Body: Being a Lecture Delivered at Ekiti State University.
To: the Department of Political Science Students.
On the importance of Unity Among Youths in Nigeria as a Pathway to Development.
Good afternoon to our Amiable Lecturers in , Distinguished Senators and Honourable, SU members on seat, the Excos, Experience Napasites, and our Fresh Napasites.
I am Comrade Obafemi Seyi Peter, I am most elated with the opportunity given me by the members of the executive to be among you today, on behalf of South-west zonal office , National Association of Political Science Students, all the way from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.
I am to talk briefly on the Topic: Unity and Development among Nigerian Youths, the importance of Unity in human affairs cannot be over-emphasised, Unity connotes the the act of joining together and working in peaceful coexistence among different factions of people to achieve a common goal. On this note, it’s not a fallacy to state that there exists an umbilical cord between Unity and Development such that the inevitably of the former vivifies or invigorates the later, what this further clarifies is that a community of men devoid of Unity cannot see the light of development.
On a more relaxed note, Walter Rodney in his book ‘how Europe underdeveloped Africa’ he made us to know that Development is multi-dimensional in phase, at the human level it’s an increase in skills coupled with human emancipation, on the societal level, it’s an the ability of a community to manage it’s internal and external relationship vis-a-vis the conflict that may arise from them.
When Prof KC Wheare Propounded the Principles of Federalism, it’s no doubt that it was anchored on the Notion of ‘Unity in Diversity’ which enjoins the federating state to come together despite their centrifugal and centripetal forces to form a Formidable federal state,
Quote me, as I say, ‘Unity among Nigerian Students, is our ability to to embrace each other, regardless of our tribe, state, department, faculty and schools, so as to pursue a common goal, which leads a roadmap to development’.
On this note, I will say, this as been achieved and can be continually achieved through.
